The Heart of Canmore ~ Rooted in History
The story of Spring Creek Mountain Village in Canmore is rooted in the family history of the land and the vision of developer Frank Kernick.
The land has been in Kernick's family since 1927, when his grandparents started a dairy farm. After his grandfather's death, his father and uncle turned the farm into a trailer park and campground.
In 2002, Kernick bought the land from his family and began planning the redevelopment of the site. His vision was to create a master-planned neighborhood with a mix of homes, a commercial component, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
Spring Creek Today
Today, Spring Creek Village has transformed significantly from its dairy roots. It’s now a vibrant hub for outdoor enthusiasts with opportunities for group hikes, bike rides, and snowshoe adventures. Stroll through boutique stores for unique gifts or a bit of rejuvenation, and enjoy a meal at one of our inviting pubs and restaurants. Relax with a coffee at the Pulse Coffee Bar & General Store, and take in the stunning mountain vistas from your new Spring Creek home after picking up dinner and treats from the Spring Creek Market by Rusticana. Rusticana has been your beloved corner store since 1978! Originally a general store, we've evolved into a vibrant community hub where you can find everything from delicious sandwiches and espresso to local goods and treats for the kids. Under the caring ownership of Christine and Jason de Soto since 2013, we pride ourselves on great customer service and being the first stop for your everyday essentials. Our new location in Spring Creek unites two family-owned businesses with long roots in the community, both dedicated to putting customers and the community first. Together, we strive to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and connected.
